A few years ago we launched a new series of videos called “Fly tying tips and techniques in a minute” by Tim Flagler of Tightline productions. Each video teaches a single binding skill, from the simplest to the most advanced. Ultimately, the series will serve as a sort of encyclopedia of tying skills that will be a valuable resource for anyone set to a vise to make a bow tie.

Very few of us will ever work in fly tying production, but as Tim states at the beginning of this video, we can learn a lot from people who make a living from the vise. If you plan to tie a bundle with the same pattern, then it is worth preparing all the materials in advance so that everything is at hand and ready to roll out, and you can focus on the tying process itself. If you tie certain patterns frequently throughout the season, the same benefits apply.
