Here is the latest in an ongoing series of videos entitled “Fly tying tips and techniques in a minute” by Tim Flagler of Tightline productions. Each video teaches a single binding skill, from the simplest to the most advanced. Ultimately, the series will serve as a sort of encyclopedia of tying skills that will be a valuable resource for anyone set to a vise to make a bow tie.

This is video number 5 in Tim’s ongoing series How to Tie a Comparadun. In the last episodes Tim talked about it

  • Which hair types generally work best?
  • hair length, orientation, tips and color streaks;
  • Which skins produce the best hair for Comparadun wings? And
  • The best ways to clean and stack hair before tying it.

This week he explains exactly how to tie your hair so that it rises properly, is perpendicular to the shank of the hook and forms a perfect semicircle. Click here to see Tim tying a complete Comparadun.
